Reach out....

and touch somebody's hand.....

I am cognizant of the importance of the friendships I have made, lost and regained.  The people I surround myself with help make me who I am.  I would like to think that I will always be there for them as they would be there for me, but what of those whom I do not count amongst my family, friends or acquaintances?  This quote by Churchill reminds me that we are more than ourselves and those we surround ourselves with, we are a part of this incredible community on Earth.  Our humanity requires that we reach out and make a life by giving to others.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.
~~Winston Churchill

Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand
~~Diana Ross
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

(Just try)
Take a little time out of your busy day
To give encouragement
To someone who's lost the way
(Just try)
Or would I be talking to a stone
If I asked you
To share a problem that's not your own
We can change things if we start giving
Why don't you

Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

(Just try)
If you see an old friend on the street
And he's down
Remember his shoes could fit your feet
(Just try)
Try a little kindness you'll see
It's something that comes very naturally
We can change things if we start giving

Why don't you
Reach out and touch
Why don't you (Why don't you)
Reach out and touch somebody's hand

Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

Like a new word I learned or poem I found....

I Am Much Too Alone in This World, Yet Not Alone
~~by Rainer Maria Rilke
~~~translated by Annemarie S. Kidder
I am much too alone in this world, yet not alone
    enough
to truly consecrate the hour.
I am much too small in this world, yet not small
    enough
to be to you just object and thing,
dark and smart.
I want my free will and want it accompanying
the path which leads to action;
and want during times that beg questions,
where something is up,
to be among those in the know,
or else be alone.
I want to mirror your image to its fullest perfection,
never be blind or too old
to uphold your weighty wavering reflection.
I want to unfold.
Nowhere I wish to stay crooked, bent;
for there I would be dishonest, untrue.
I want my conscience to be
true before you;
want to describe myself like a picture I observed
for a long time, one close up,
like a new word I learned and embraced,
like the everday jug,
like my mother's face,
like a ship that carried me along
through the deadliest storm.
"Earth, my dearest, oh believe me, you no longer need your springtimes
to win me over...Unspeakably, I have belonged to you, from the flush."
Rainer Maria Rilke
